Theresa Kushner

Senior Vice President, Performance Analytics Group

Theresa Kushner is the Senior Vice President at Performance Analytics Group (PAG), Dell EMC. In her current role she is responsible to lead strategy, planning and delivery of reporting, analytics, data management and business intelligence for various businesses within the company. She joined Dell Inc. in June 2017, from VMware where she was the Vice President of the Information Innovation Center at VMware in Palo, Alto.

Beginning in 2012, Ms. Kushner built at VMware a data governance, data management, business intelligence and advanced analytics capability. The organization managed master data (for both customer and products) that was consumed in reporting and combined with structured and unstructured data to drive insights for the business.

Before joining VMware, Ms. Kushner was the Director of Customer Intelligence within the Strategic Marketing organization of Cisco Systems in San Jose, California. She joined Cisco Systems in 2006 to create, for the world’s leading internet company, a department that understands, manages and applies customer information to marketing. At Cisco, she directed a team of analytics strategists and specialists whose main job was to increase Cisco’s market share by applying insights gathered from customer data.

Under Ms. Kushner’s guidance, both the BI and MDM teams at VMware and the Customer Intelligence team at Cisco were recognized by TDWI for excellence in achievement. In addition, the Analytics team at VMware received two awards for excellence in 2016.

Prior to Cisco, Ms. Kushner was a director of marketing at IBM. There she held positions in IBM Corporate managing marketing program development, market data and analytics as well as direct marketing for small and medium business. While at IBM, she led a team of marketing professionals in western and central Europe, Middle East and Africa for two years as the director of marketing for small and medium business. It was this position that convinced Ms. Kushner that managing data was essential to making marketing effective.

In 2008, Ms. Kushner co-authored “Managing Your Business Data from Chaos to Confidence” with Maria Villar. Ms. Villar and Ms. Kushner joined forces at IBM when both were engaged in developing a data warehouse for marketing. Today, they both write columns for Latin Business Today as well as are guest lecturers for e-learning.com. Ms. Kushner wrote her second book with co-author, Ruth P Stevens. The book entitled “B2B Data-Driven Marketing: Sources, Uses, Results” was published in June 2015.

Ms. Kushner is a graduate of the University of North Texas where she received a Master of Arts in Journalism. She also presently serves on the Board of Advisors to Mayborn School of Journalism at UNT. In 2016, she attended the Stanford Executive Program and became a member of the SEP Foundation Board. This board makes it possible for an executive from a not-for-profit organization to attend the program.

Ms. Kushner is a native Texan (who will stay a Giants fan). She and her husband, Matthew, will reside in Round Rock, Texas. Her son, David, is a visualization programmer with Westfield Retail Solutions designing the mall of the future.
