ECHO Case Study: Samsung and the Elle Style Awards 360 Experience

By early 2016, brands were already creating high-quality VR content for audiences. But only Samsung Mobile was asking its agency, Harte Hanks, to use prototype consumer-level VR cameras (and software) to capture an iconic red carpet event and post during the height of media and public interest.

With the announcement of the Gear 360 camera, the goal was to simultaneously showcase the product’s ease-of-use to makers and to engage a news-hungry fashion fan base with never-seen-before virtual reality access to music, film and style icons on the Elle Style Awards red carpet, winners’ photoshoot and after party. The resulting two films outperformed all Elle social content by over 1100 percent, proving the case for 360 content and consumer desire for immersive storytelling experiences.
